Questions about what it’s like to work together?
Here are some of the most common questions we get from individuals about therapy.
Where is your office located?
Safe Harbor Healing Center is conveniently located at:
2217 Carlisle Road, Suite 410
York, Pennsylvania 17408
What are your hours?
Do you take insurance?
We are an out-of-network provider with all insurance plans and do not work directly with insurance companies.
If you like, we can provide you with a Superbill receipt to submit for out-of-network mental health reimbursement, depending on your plan’s benefits.
In many cases, clients can receive up to 50-80% reimbursement once their out-of-network deductible has been met. PPO plans generally have the highest reimbursement rates for out-of-network providers.
Safe Harbor Healing Center also works with Thrizer, a platform that helps clients utilize out-of-network benefits.
What is your cancellation policy?
We request at least a 24-hour notice for any cancellations. Failure to attend a session without a 24-hour cancellation will result in a $85 cancellation fee.
How does online therapy work?
Do you offer in-person sessions?
How do I set up an initial appointment?
Setting up an initial appointment is easy and straightforward. To schedule your first session, you can reach out to us directly via phone or email, as provided in the footer or simply fill out the form, and we will get back to you within two business days to get you scheduled.
During our initial conversation, we can discuss scheduling options that work best for you, including the availability of appointment times, frequency of sessions, and any other logistical details. We will also provide you with information about the location of the session, whether in person or through teletherapy (online video sessions), and any necessary forms or paperwork that you may need to complete before the first session.
If you’re ready to take the next step, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are here to guide you through the process and support you on your journey toward healing and growth.
What can I expect in the first session?
Your therapist will take a few minutes to go through the paperwork that you will be sent via a secure online portal. To save time, please complete your paperwork before your first session. Going through the paperwork in person will ensure that you are fully informed of your confidentiality and the therapeutic process, and your therapist has all your information to better help you. You will also have time to ask any clarifying questions that you may have about the paperwork.
After completing the paperwork, we’ll discuss what brought you into therapy. The therapist will take a full assessment of the presenting problem. At the end of the session, your therapist will summarize your issues and help you to create a treatment plan. This session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share any concerns, and begin building a therapeutic relationship with your therapist.
What population do you work with?
Our clinicians have experience working with a diverse range of populations, including both young and older adults. They are equipped to work with individuals from various cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
Our clinicians are trained to work with clients facing various concerns, including trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions.
What modalities do you use in your client work?
Our clinicians integrate a variety of evidence-based modalities, tailoring them to each individual’s unique needs. Some of the modalities drawn upon include Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness-based approaches, and Somatic Experiencing. We take an integrative approach, incorporating elements from different modalities to create a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan.
What is your professional training and experience?
All our clinicians have completed specialized training in trauma-focused therapies and have gained extensive experience working with trauma survivors. Additionally, we regularly engage in professional development activities, attend conferences, and participate in supervision to stay current with the latest research and therapeutic approaches.
How long will I be in therapy?
The duration of counseling varies depending on several factors, such as the nature of the concern, the individual’s goals, and the progress made in sessions. Some individuals find short-term counseling beneficial, which may span a few weeks to a few months. Others may engage in longer-term therapy for more complex or chronic issues. The number of sessions can be discussed and determined collaboratively with the therapist.
Is counseling confidential?
Yes, counseling is confidential. Therapists adhere to strict ethical guidelines and legal requirements to ensure client confidentiality. Information shared in counseling sessions is kept confidential, except in specific situations where there is a risk of harm to oneself or others or when required by law. Your therapist will discuss confidentiality and its limits during your initial sessions.
Is counseling only for individuals with mental health diagnoses?
No, counseling is not limited to individuals with specific mental health diagnoses. It is a resource for anyone seeking support, personal growth, or assistance in navigating life’s challenges. Counseling can benefit individuals experiencing various life stressors, relationship difficulties, personal development goals, or seeking to enhance their well-being.
Can I involve my partner or family in counseling?
Yes, involving your partner or family in counseling can be beneficial, especially if your concerns impact your relationships. Couples therapy or family therapy can provide a platform to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships. Discuss with your therapist if involving your loved ones in counseling would be helpful.
What else does a client need to know to make the most out of working with you?
It is important to approach counseling with openness, honesty, and a willingness to engage in the process to make the most out of your therapeutic work. It’s important to remember that therapy is a collaborative endeavor, and your active participation is crucial.
Be prepared to share your thoughts, emotions, and experiences openly, as this will help guide your work and facilitate your growth and healing.
Additionally, it’s essential to communicate your goals, expectations, and any concerns you may have throughout the therapeutic journey. Trust and open communication are the foundations of our therapeutic relationship, and we are committed to creating a safe and non-udgmental space where you can explore, heal, and thrive.
